Pictureless

Writer: Amanda WaisAmanda Wais

HI!

The first thing I do when I sit down to write these posts is open my pictures and see what I have to offer you visually.

Whelp, this week was a few pics of my kid taking a nap in random places because he's been sick. A couple pics of Esa out on a ski becuase he finally has time to enjoy winter. And a couple pics of my amaryllis.

Guess who wins this time?

Isn't she a beaut?

I love seeing that at the top of the stairs. What a winter treat.

Yes, we had some more big blizzards (one of the worst, actually) and some melts. It's quite interesting because it seems like, for most of winter, we get 2-5 inches several times a week, and it's just what it is.

It's winter.

It's consistent and steady. So we move snow before we leave the house and manage it when we can. It's a grind.

But late season is like a fiery yo-yo. One day we get a horrendous blizzard where it takes hours to dig out, (like last week) and two days later it's 49 degrees. The banks turn to ice when it cools down again, and then we get another crazy windy storm and then the sun comes out and we watch the snow melt and drip drip drip from the rooftops.

Generally, I am not a fan of talking weather. I don't like small talk, and the weather just seems like a scapegoat to fill the silence that someone might deem awkward.

But when the weather changes so dramatically in a couple days, it's quite common to get into a quick chat about it when you walk past a neighbor or someone at the store.

Right now we Yoopers are under no impression that winter is over, but we are sliding down the other side of the bank with a couple sunny days here and there

and only rogue storms. Not the daily quota of 2-5 inches.

It really is interesting. So interesting that I find it valuable enough to mention.

But one other reason I don't have many fun pictures for your is because I have also been sick. I mean, how many weeks can a child be sick before Mom finally succumbs? This time it was about three weeks. Now it's my turn, but like the turn in a teetering spring, I am also over the hump.

I am still super dedicated to all my projects and working fervently each day. Oh, it feels so good, and one of these days, I'll have something to show for it! And you'll be first in line to know.

I don't have too much else to say in between blowing my nose, so I'll leave you with a few links for further enjoyment.

In our latest podcast episode, I got to talk with a fellow writing nerd about, well, writing! Dr. Sarah Jefferis puts a cool spin on it and pairs it with healing. Hey, it worked for her!

If you have't already become a member on my Patreon, you can do that at anytime to get our monthly Seasonal Throwback videos and whatever else I come up with. Ha! If you upgrade to $5 per month, you get the added bonus of behind the scenes reporting from each podcast episode.

I recently posted a Youtube video featuring yours truly reading from the first chapter of my first novel In the Dirt. So if you ever wondered what my characters' voices sounded like in my head as I wrote that book, you can listen to me read them all right here!

I really appreaciate you coming here to read. Reading is awesome, and so are you!
